Oversized Block Print Shirt

I cannot believe Fall is here already! Daylight Saving Time ends on 2nd Nov; that is a painful reminder that good days are over.

Each time of the day, including peak afternoons, is accompanied by cold winds; the sun is hiding behind clouds.

Gosh, summer is really over!

This whole week, I have been layering and covering myself completely because not just outside, inside of my workplace is freezing too. Well, not exactly freezing, but that’s how it has been feeling.

Of course Fall dressing can be fun – plaids, infinity scarves and boots. But it also makes me sloppy and immobile. I also dislike wearing jeans the whole day. I crave the freedom summer provides.

Summer is 5 months away and I am already longing for it. Not good!

Here is my outfit post from 2 weeks ago. Even though mornings were nippy, afternoons were scorching hot. I bought this Ann Taylor shirt recently and even though it is one or two sizes bigger, I enjoy wearing it. Oversized shirts look great tucked-in into pants or skirts. I also like the fact that it is block printed. A wonderful ethnic touch to a casual Californian look.

Monsoon Special: How To Look Stylish With Shorts

Summer has gone away giving way to lashing sheets of rain. But shorts are here to stay. Do away with thick jeans and cotton pants. It’s time to stick with your trusty shorts. A pair of well fitting, good looking shorts doesn’t need much styling. You can wear shorts in a variety of ways to make your monsoon as stylish as summer. Here are some ideas.

1. Tough with delicate

Wear denim cut offs with delicate textures like lace, eyelet and croquet. Create a boho look by putting on some chunky silver jewellery. If you want to go simple and quick, throw on a catchy t-shirt and you are good to go.

2. Experiment with other textures

Denim shorts never fail. However, do not ignore the variety available. There are khakhis (my favourite), wool, linen (another favourite), lace and polyester. There are plains and there are printed ones. Look for unique prints like block prints, quirky prints or embellishments like embroidery and mirror work. Add color and spirit to the grey weather.

3. Try different styles

Skorts, long shorts / Bermudas, flared shorts, balloon shorts, high waisted shorts or shorts with pleats. You can be overwhelmed with the range. Select a style that suits your body and personality. I totally vouch for long shorts. They are a bit conservative because they are longer. You can create a semi formal look by pairing them with a smart shirt and a belt. Try Wills Lifestyle or Allen Solly for these.

4. Accessorize

Spruce up your tee-and-shorts with accessories like scarves, statement necklaces and large earrings. Scarves and earrings are my favourite combo. Make a messy bun when you do this combo, will you. Moreover, a scarf will protect you from the chill that is inevitable in the rainy season.

For The Love Of Summer

I wish I was in college and had loads of money. I wish I worked for Vogue. I wish I was in New York and had loads of money. I could wear these outfits regularly and not wait for special occasions to wear them. Even if I could easily put together any of these outfits, I would feel miserable if it gets wasted on the crowd / location / event.

Which one do you like the most?

Keep watching my outfit sets on Polyvore.

Moving On

So things took only little time to set up. My friends ask me – Oh, you’ve been fast. Everything set already? Oh ye, what did you think? I’d live in scarcity and misery??!!!

I have taken reins in my hands and settled in fast in the new house. After arranging for boring (and necessary) stuff like maid, dhobhi, car cleaner and food, I have started exploring the new city and meeting people. Friends? So soon, you may ask? Well, lets just call it my magic touch.
Meanwhile, Surat memories refuse to fade away. I miss all my friends there. They keep calling me and my heart still swells with pleasure while talking to them or even thinking of them.

Pics taken, before leaving Surat, by my dear pretty, younger friend, Akansha, at Suvali beach.

It’s fun doing girlie stuff sometimes – you know dressing up and stuff. I can’t believe I am doing this at the age of 28. But why not? I call myself a bored HR professional and I really need something exciting and fun going on to spice up my life. So, I have this really sweet friend named Krishna (and her Mom is a darling too) and we keep meeting up for photo shoots.
Sad that she is getting married and going away soon. Don’t get me wrong; I am realllly happy for her and all but I am going to miss her! I am going to miss her innocent questions and crazy tactics and loving nature.

Is the white and denim combination every going to go out of fashion? I am sure it won’t and I hope it doesn’t. I am CRAZY about denims and whites; been hoarding them ever since I can remember. Anyway, my favourite white outfit out of the many whites I have is this Valleygirl shirt I got from Australia last year. The fit is amazing – sexy and elegant and the texture feels like a baby’s skin!

Shorts are the most comfortable thing ever! I wonder why we aren’t allowed to wear them at work.
